Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon received the 2nd edition of the Festival APROXIMA-TE! – Semana da Educação Patrimonial, from 23 to 26 November.
APROXIMA-TE! is a pioneering festival that presents the existing offer in the field of heritage and artistic education, proving how heritage can be fun, dynamic and "cool".
During the event, several entities presented their projects in areas as diverse as culture, heritage, history, archaeology, science, communication and dance, addressing schools and families as well as professionals of the field.
The Festival’s Cultural Programming integrates more than 50 activities for the whole family, including workshops, guided tours, theatre, dance, music and photography: it was possible to know the history of bread and learn how it is done, attend concerts and create musical instruments, interview different professionals, understand how archaeologists work in the excavations or learn the history from mural painting from prehistory to graffiti, among other possibilities.
The festival also received three exhibitions "Pãotrimónio" by Terras Dentro, "Chocalhos do Alentejo” by Chocalhos Pardalinho and "O NOSSA ESCOLA" by Mundo Património in partnership with Câmara Municipal de Lisboa. This exhibition was based on the project APROXIMAR, which involved 360 students from 3rd and 4th grade from 15 different classes, whose main goal was to present the concept of Heritage through what’s closest to them - School Heritage: traveling to the past and understand their school’s history; stopping at the present - what they like and don’t like in today's school; finally taking them on a journey to the future and imagining how the school will be like.
As part of the event, a National Conference on Heritage Education took place - “Os miúdos e o Património: oportunidades e desafios”. Fourteen speakers from twelve organizations participated in the debate about the relationship between children and heritage.
